Two ways in which the French revolution could have been avoided.

Two ways in which the French revolution could have been avoided.
1.      The French Revolution could have been avoided if the monarchy would have listen to the demands of their people and respected their demands.  If the government would have looked at their spending and economy they could have effectively saved themselves from a royal downward spiral into debt. Some says the downfall began once Queen Marie Antoinette was selected as a wife for King Louis XVI. Many French citizens and nationalists were offended that the government and King Louis XVI predecessor chose an Austrian alliance instead of choosing a woman in the French kingdom or common realms to marry. But of course, if King Louis XVI had married someone in the French kingdom that could have put France at a security low point without an Austrian alliance with Maria Theresa
2.      If the French had managed their finances better, which would have been helped by not intervening in the American War of Independence, then the French financial situation would not have been so dire as to necessitate the calling of the Estates-General in 1789. It was as a consequence of the disputes in the Estates-General that the French Revolution began and the Estates-General itself was called to deal with the financial difficulties that the French government had at that time. So, yes, the French Revolution could have been prevented but only in the years well before the start of the Revolution in 1789.
